Notes

Getting There: From the airport, a cab is the easiest. Ask the cab driver to go via S. Highway 183 and E. 7th St., which is the shortest route. It should be around $35 and take 20-30 min depending on traffic.

Parking: In the back of the house is the carport. You can use either one of the two spots available. However, do not use the other spot (as is reserved for someone else).

Private Entrance: It is the front door of the main house (red door).

Neighbourhood

This vacation rental gets the best of both worlds -- a taste of urban living in a quaint and historic neighborhood. Located in the center of the city and only a stone's throw from downtown's many attractions.

Harthan Street is Austin's first Local Historic District. It is a residential street one block long, extending north from West 6th Street. Located within the West Line National Register Historic District, it is composed of ten houses, of which the earliest home, The A. J. Jernigan House, known as Las Ventanas (directly across the street) was built in 1875. Our house was built in 1917.

Transport

Getting Around: Although we recommend renting a car if you are planning on traveling outside of Austin, there are many ways of getting around central Austin:

  • Ride shares (Lyft, Uber) (few people use taxis anymore in Austin).
  • Dockless electric bikes, scooters, and mopeds (Bird, Lime, Lyft, Jump [Uber], Spin, VeoRide, Revel).
  • Austin B-cycle (bike share that uses docking stations - less popular than the dockless options).
  • CapMetro (Austin's public transportation, but it is not popular).
